Myths and FACTS about Muscle
Stimulators and there Application.
You can buy a basic unit and upgrade to a higher unit
without having to buy a new unit, only pay the difference.
FACTS
1. Why should I buy an EMS Device?
There are two
reason:
A. For relief from minor pain (joint pains, muscle aches,
etc) and stress.
B. To help strengthen muscles, improve overall appearance,
and enhance your physical training program.
2. How does EMS work?
EMS (Electrical Muscle
Stimulation) uses electrical current to stimulate your
muscles (passive exercise). This electrical current is
similar to the electrical impulses produced by the brain to
stimulate muscle tissue (active
exercise). By placing the pair of pads on a
particular muscle group, your muscles respond to the
impulses that are generated by contracting and relaxing
rhythmically as instructed by you through the unit. When a
muscle contracts as a result of a unique EMS/TENS signal,
the chemical changes taking place within the muscles are
similar to those associated with voluntary contraction in
"normal exercising". These chemical reactions which result
from muscle contractions utilizes glycogen, fat and other
nutrients stored in the muscle. These resulting series of
muscle contractions will enable an individual to tone,
strengthen, and combat flabbiness while improving
contour.
3. What is Russian Stim?
Russian Stim is
2500Hertz at 50 pulses per second. This means that 50 times
a second a 2500Hertz pulse stream is sent to your muscle.
The benefit of this is a deeper penetration of the muscle
and more intense contraction. This type of stimulation is
commonly used by doctors for treatment of: Rehabilitation,
Scoliosis, Spinal Cord Injuries, and chronic muscular pain
syndromes.
4. I still don't understand what is so great about EMS
training?
It's not for everybody
but here are a few reasons why you might consider EMS
training:
A. If you don't have time to go to the gym or workout, EMS
can tighten and tone muscles to give you a slimmer
appearance. EMS training is similar to doing isometric
exercises but maintaining a 95% intensity throughout the
workout. (Example: Hold your arm down with your other hand.
Now pull against that hand for ten seconds. Feel the burn
and tightness in your arm. Try that for 5 minutes and you
will start to get tired. EMS devices have the same effect
without reducing the intensity.)
B. After working out you come home dead tired and sore. EMS
devices can help to eliminate or reduce the muscle soreness
and pain following an intense workout.
C: You want to increase your muscle mass but don't want to
take steroids. EMS training can help to warm up your muscles
and increase circulation prior to your workout routine. It
has been shown that individuals who use EMS devices in
conjunction with their normal workout routines have far
better results than those who don't.
5. When will I notice a difference?
It will take about 3 -
4 weeks to see any real, noticeable improvement such as a
slimmer waistline or a tighter muscle group.
6. I understand that the unit may be used for pain
management; how does this work?
By setting the PHASE
button to MONO and doing a very light stimulation of the
painful area for about 15 minutes, you should feel minor
pain relief. Please consult your physician for specific
recommendations and precautions. TENS
Units are used primarily for pain relief.
7. Can I use a muscle stimulator on my face and neck?
We never recommend the
use of EMS muscle stimulators on the face or neck. Instead,
we do recommend our facial stimulators to help reduce
wrinkles and tighten facial muscles
8. What is RECIPROCATION?
Reciprocation is when
one channel is on and the other channel is off. It used for
SUPERSETTING muscle groups. An example is stimulating biceps
and triceps. Instead of switching pads around, you can put a
set of pads on the biceps and another on the triceps. Turn
the Reciprocation mode on and stimulate biceps in one cycle
and then triceps in the next cycle.
MYTHS
1. 45 minutes of EMS is like 4 hours in the gym!
We would love to say
"YES" but the truth is "NO". There is no evidence that doing
EMS is equal to 4 hours in the gym. Studies have shown that
EMS is effective for toning and strengthening muscles, and
as a training aid with resistance training. We can help you
workout a program that is very effective in developing your
strength and/or toning your body.
2. ONE hour of EMS is equal to 300 to 400 sit-ups!
Once again, I'm sorry
but research does not support those claims. EMS is effective
for sliming the abdominal area but not in the same way as
doing sit-ups. However, similar to sit-ups, you should see
and feel a difference in about 3 - 4 weeks.
3. EMS training will burn fat and calories away!
We're sorry, but
contrary to what people try to claim, EMS does not burn fat
or calories. However, I can help to tighten your muscles and
give you a slimmer appearance
.
4. Develop 19 or 22 inch arms and massive legs muscles!
You cannot develop 22 inch
biceps with EMS devices alone. Through a combination of EMS
and resistive training, you can develop your muscle groups a
lot further than by resistive training alone. You own body's
genetics will determine how massive you will get through
training.
While the EMS device, by itself will not develop massive
arms, it can help to tighten and tone your muscles. This
will help to give you a slimmer and more athletic
appearance.
Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is a
technologically advanced science that uses very mild
electrical current to exercise your muscles. This will help
to give you tone, definition, and a figure you can easily
maintain and sculpt in the comfort of your home environment.
WHAT IS EMS?
Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS) is a revolutionary
muscle exercise concept for use in your own home. Our EMS
systems are portable, light weight electronic units that
have been scientifically designed and proven to exercise
body muscles fast, efficiently & effectively through a
series of stimulated contraction & relaxation phases.
For years Soviet and Eastern block Olympic contenders have
used muscle stimulators to build the same rippling muscles
that steroids promised.
Now the practice has finally reached the West. Once only
available to doctors and therapists, EMS is recommended for
anyone participating in bodybuilding, power lifting, martial
arts, boxing, or anyone simply wishing to achieve their
optimal athletic physique. EMS is used extensively
throughout the world. The Medical Advisory Committee has
allowed the use of EMS systems by athletes since the 1972
Olympics. Bodybuilders, professional athletes,
physiotherapists, sports doctors and US/Canadian Track and
Field athletes use EMS systems to supplement their regular
workout routines. Many doctors use EMS units to aid in the
rehabilitation of muscles following injury and to ease
patients chronic muscle spasms and pain.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The EMS 2000 and 2000R units have two outlets known
as channels (The EMS 4000 and EMS 4000R have four channels).
Each channel has two wire connections with two pads attached
at the end of each wire. The EMS unit delivers a gentle
electronic impulse to your muscles via the soft
electrode pads that comes with
your system. By placing the pair of pads on a particular
muscle group, your muscles respond to the impulses that are
generated by contracting and relaxing rhythmically as
instructed by you through the unit. When a muscle contracts
as a result of a unique EMS/TENS signal, the chemical
changes taking place within the muscles are similar to those
associated with voluntary contraction in "normal
exercising". These chemical reactions which result from
muscle contractions utilizes glycogen, fat and other
nutrients stored in the muscle. These resulting series of
muscle contractions will enable an individual to tone,
strengthen, and combat flabbiness while improving contour.
Just strap it on while you're resting, reading, net surfing
or watching T.V. and watch your body transform right before
your eyes.
